Première partie : duo Thonnard 

Le répertoire est majoritairement constitué de compositions entre lesquelles se glissent quelques pièces qu'ils affectionnent particulièrement, écrites pas Steve Lacy, Pierre Van Dormael et Sylvain Rabourdin.

 

Deuxième partie : quartet

Ce projet est issu de la rencontre entre Lydie et Damien Thonnard en juillet 2022 lors d'un stage de jazz contemporain donné par Bo van der Werf. Hadrien Pierson et Guillaume Ruellant les ont rejoints quelques temps après pour former le quartet actuel.

Entre parties écrites et improvisées, ils composent une musique à travers laquelle chacun peut s'exprimer avec son propre langage tout en étant conscient qu'un univers collectif les rassemble.

Le point central autour duquel le projet s'articule est l'aspect rythmique de la musique. A travers des superpositions métriques, des déplacements d'accents ou encore des polyrythmies, les musiciens tentent de s'approcher d'un autre espace temps, dans lequel les écoutes seraient démultipliées. C'est au coeur de ce processus créatif qu'émergent des contextes d'improvisation singuliers et spécifiques.

The repertoire consists mainly of compositions, interspersed with some of their favorite pieces by Steve Lacy, Pierre Van Dormael and Sylvain Rabourdin.

Second part: quartet

This project grew out of a meeting between Lydie and Damien Thonnard in July 2022 during a contemporary jazz workshop given by Bo van der Werf. Hadrien Pierson and Guillaume Ruellant joined them some time later to form the current quartet.

Between written and improvised parts, they compose a music through which each can express himself with his own language, while being aware that a collective universe brings them together.

The focal point of the project is the rhythmic aspect of the music. Through metric superimpositions, shifting accents and polyrhythms, the musicians attempt to approach another space-time, in which listening is multiplied. It is at the heart of this creative process that singular and specific improvisational contexts emerge.
