Depuis 2021, le quartet BALKAVIK distille un concentré énergisant de musique instrumentale, entre tradition et métissage, tendresse et virtuosité, danses frénétiques et rythmes boiteux, alcool fort et folie douce...

Un mariage d'amour (fiévreux mais heureux) entre Tim Burton et Emir Kusturica, Danny Elfman et Marcel Ramba, Monk et Fulgerica, sous la houlette du compositeur et pianiste bruxellois Victor Abel et de ses trois complices de jeu – Fred Gairard au violon, Romain Karsenty à l'accordéon, Antoine Maes à la contrebasse.

En mars 2024 le groupe sort un premier album 8 titres : « Fluture de Noapte » (papillon de nuit en roumain) disponible sur https://balkavik.bandcamp.com et qu'ils viendront nous présenter au CRIX !

Since 2021, the BALKAVIK quartet has been distilling an energizing concentration of instrumental music, between tradition and crossbreeding, tenderness and virtuosity, frenetic dances and lame rhythms, strong alcohol and gentle madness...
A (feverish but happy) marriage of love between Tim Burton and Emir Kusturica, Danny Elfman and Marcel Ramba, Monk and Fulgerica, led by Brussels composer and pianist Victor Abel and his three accomplices - Fred Gairard on violin, Romain Karsenty on accordion and Antoine Maes on double bass.
In March 2024, the band released their first 8-track album: “Fluture de Noapte” (Romanian for “moth”), available at https://balkavik.bandcamp.com. They will present this new LP at CRIX next 18.10 !
